Bound By Blades is an action RPG that I've been keeping an eye on it since it was first announced last September. The developer initially ran a Kickstarter campaign but unfortunately, it didn't hit the target which led to a change in direction for the title. It's still in development for PC, iOS and Android and the developer has recently published another dev update.

The latest developer diary, which you can watch in video form below, introduces the third and final playable character. They are called Kota, a heavily armoured guardian who hails from the Oxbourne Tribe. Kota attacks with a boomerang and good timing on these throws will create combos for additional damage.

The Chinese Room's critically acclaimed narrative-driven game Dear Esther is now available for iOS devices.

Despite being a critical darling when it was released back in 2012 Dear Esther is often the source of ridicule from folks who don't' feel that it's really a game. Whatever you may think of it, Dear Esther is certainly an important game. It paved the way for more games of its ilk such as the excellent What Remains of Edith Finch. So it's great to see it make its way over to Apple devices.

If you've never had any dealings with Dear Esther it's a story-focused game where you explore the coastline of the mysterious Hebridean isle. Accompanying you on your journey is an unknown narrator who reads out parts of a letter that was written to the titular Esther.

As you explore the isle you may see various scribblings on cave walls and different parts of some machine scattered throughout the environment. You might also spy a spectral being off in the distance on occasion as well as you're left to interpret the events of the story.

It's also a visually spectacular looking game with incredible amounts of detail to be found in the environment. Given its age, it still holds up remarkably well and I'm intrigued to see how that translates to iPhones and iPads.

If you're pressed for time but are interested in what Dear Esther has to offer, fear not. It's not a particularly long game, you'll be able to see everything it has to offer in around an hour though you can expect the game to stick with you a fair bit longer than that.

Dear Esther is available now on the App Store. It's a premium game that costs $4.99/£4.99.
Check out our news section to discover the latest, and greatest, games.Sword Art Online Black Swordsman: Ace

Popular Instagram AR talent Christopher Gu has returned once again with another filter. This time around he has teamed up with Devsisters, the folks behind Cookie Run to create this new AR filter: 'GingerBrave Run'.

You might be familiar with Christopher Gu as the creator of 'Guess the Gibberish', which went viral on Instagram and racked up more than 3 billion impressions on the social media platform. His latest effort, 'GingerBrave Run' will take the DNA of Cookie Run: OvenBreak and see Instagramers running while avoiding obstacles. View this post on Instagram
A post shared by CookieRun (@cookierun)

A post shared by CookieRun (@cookierun)
To do this, you'll be able to watch yourself controlling GingerBrave Cookie – who is appropriately dressed for the holiday season – with your nose. This means tilting your head up and down to avoid the various obstacles that will scroll across the screen. How far can you go in one attempt?

The AR filter will allow you to test your skills in three game environments, all of which use original music from Cookie: Run OvenBreak. They include Witch's Kitchen, which will be the default selection and draws inspiration from Cookie Run's early storyline.

The second of the three game environments is Tropical, for those who yearn for the sun and want to be whisked away from reality at this particular time. Finally, for those who want to get into the festive spirit, there will be a Winter stage full of snow and ice to get you into a Christmassy mood.

Cookie Run: OvenBreak is available now over on the App Store and Google Play. It's a free-to-play game with in-app purchases.

If you ever find yourself missing the days when you burned all your cash on Ikaruga, then ended up a weepy, frustrated mess on the floor - fear not! That experience is basically coming back next week in the form of Hyperstellar.

Hyperstellar is a rock hard schmup that challenges you to shoot everything in sight, collect gold drops, then upgrade and buy new ships. And the cycle repeats.

You only get three lives though, and if you lose them you have to either pay for more (just like in an arcade), watch an ad, or start all over again.

Then, if you get really annoyed, you can buy coin packs to get those all-important upgrades much faster or new ships. These have different hitboxes and attack patterns that will appeal to different playing styles.

If you're into the idea of Hyperstellar there's not long to wait, as it's all set for launch on July 21st on iOS.
Could scape the hail of his all-hurting aim,
